During winters Yamunotri temple remains closed. In monsoon landslides are frequent so pilgrims should avoid the monsoon season. May-June & September-October are the best months to visit Yamunotri.

Are food and accommodation facilities available in Yamunotri?

Handful of hotels is available in Yamunotri. For better accommodation pilgrims can stay at hotels in Janki Chatti, Syana Chatti and Rana Chatti. On the route there are many food joints or restaurants that serve the basic vegetarian food.

How to reach Yamunotri from Delhi or Haridwar?

Yamunotri is located at a distance of 412 kms from Delhi and 230 kms from Haridwar. It has good road connectivity with Delhi & Haridwar till Janakichatti. From Janaki Chatti one needs to take the 5 km trek route to reach Yamunotri. The nearest railway head is Haridwar railway station. Dehradun Jolly Grant Airport is the nearest airhead to Yamunotri. Flights are easily available from Delhi to Dehradun. From Haridwar one can board a bus or hire car.

What are the weather conditions in Yamunotri?

Yamunotri experience pleasant climate during summer and winters get freezing cold. April to July is the summer months. During monsoon the heavy rainfall takes place and landslides are frequent. Winter starts from November and last till February.

Yamunotri is at a distance of 213 kms from Rishikesh. Many local buses provide daily service from Rishikesh to Barkot which is a 46 km journey. One can also opt for taxi service on private basis.
