The divine town of Kedarnath sits in the lap of Garhwal Himalayas in Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand. Kedarnath is located about 3,584 m (11,756 ft) above sea level close to Chorabari Glacier.
Situated 238 kms away from the Kedarnath, Jolly Grant Airport is the nearest airhead to Kedarnath. The airport is well connected to major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata. Almost all the airlines now have flights to Jolly Grant Airport. From here one needs to hire a taxi or take a bus to reach Gaurikund.

If you don’t want to take the road journey then Kedarnath shutter services are for you. Kedarnath Yatra was a tedious one for many aged devotees. But Kedarnath Helicopter Yatra has made it easy. It has become an ideal mode of travel by many pilgrims. Kedarnath Helicopter services are meant for three routes -Sersi, Phata and Guptkashi.
The nearest railway stations to Kedarnath are at Rishikesh (215 km), Haridwar (238 km), Dehradun (257 km) and Kotdwar (246 km). Rishikesh railway station is not much connected by fast trains. Haridwar railway station is much developed and well connected with New Delhi, Mumbai, Amritsar, Lucknow and Ahmedabad.
Gaurikund is the nearest motorable area near Kedarnath. From Gaurikund one has to take a trek route of 18 km to reach Kedarnath. Gaurikund is well connected with buses, taxis and road network of Rishikesh, Dehradun, Uttarkashi, Tehri, Pauri and Chamoli.
Delhi Airway and Railway network is well connected to major cities of India. One can board a flight from Delhi to Dehradun (Jolly grant Airport). There is no direct train from Delhi to Haridwar. You can travel by the train Janshtbdi from New Delhi to Haridwar. You can also take a bus from Delhi to Dehradun which is a 260 km journey. Buses are easily available for Dehradun from Kashmiri Gate Bus Terminal and Anand Vihar Bus Terminal. After reaching Haridwar you can take a bus or book a cab for Gaurikund.
One can board an early morning bus to Guptkashi / Sonprayag or hire a cab for Kedarnath Yatra from Haridwar. The travel time to Sonprayag is 8-9 hrs. Shared taxi service to Gaurikund is also available. Advance booking can also be done from GMOA (Garhwal Mandal Owners Association) office.
