Places to visit near Kedaranth

Deoria Tal

Deoria Tal is a natural lake situated on the Ukhimath-Chopta road in Uttarakhand. The lush greenery with snow capped mountains in the backdrop makes this lake picturesque. The reflection of lofty Chaukhamba peak in the lake is an enthralling one. It is a great place for birdwatching.

Chopta

Nestled at an altitude of 2500 mtrs above sea level on the Gopeshwar-Ukhimath road, Chopta is a scenic hamlet in Garhwal region. People from all across the globe come to allure the beauty that this place hides. The awe-inspiring view of Himalayan ranges like Nanda Devi and Chaykhamba from Chopta is indescribable.

Chandrashila

Chandrashila which means “Moon Rock” is elevated at a height of 3679 meters above sea level. It is summit of the Tungnath. Visitors can enjoy the view of Himalayan ranges like Nanda Devi, Trisul, Kedar Peak, Bandarpunch and many more. This is a great spot for trek and adventure freaks.

Guptkashi

Guptkashi is located around 22 km away from Kedarnath. Guptkashi is known for its two ancient times architectural style Vishwanath and Ardhanareeshwar temples. Legends say that Lord Shiva hid at this place for some period when he was hiding away from the Pandavas.

Kedar Massif

Kedar Massif is formed by three mountains ranges-Kedarnath, Kedar Dome and Bharatekuntha. It is loomed at an altitude of around 6000 m. Kedar Massif is the point where many glaciers flow, one of which is Mandakini glacier.

Agastyamuni

Agastyamuni is a prominent temple devoted to the great sage Agastya. It is said that the sage meditated at this place for one year. The temple is located 70 kms from Kedarnath on the bank of River Mandakini. One can see the carvings of the Hindu god and goddess on the temple walls which depict the ancient archaeological style.

Kalimath

Kalimath is a famous Hindu pilgrimage that is devoted to Goddess Kali in Garhwal. The Kali temple located here is a renowned one. It is believed Goddess killed the demon Raktavija at this place. There are around 108 Shakti Peethas in India and Kalimath is one of them.

Triyuginarayan

Triyuginarayan is a scenic village located in Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand.  Triyuginarayan Temple located in the village is a famous pilgrim spot. The temple is devoted to Lord Vishnu. What makes this temple prominent is that it was the venue of the celestial marriage of Shiva and Parvati.
