Opening and Closing Dates of Kedarnath Temple

Due to the geographical location, Kedarnath temple remains closed for six months. During winter season the heavy snowfall blocks the route to the temple. Hence, for six months the deity is brought down to Omkareshwar Temple in Ukhimath where the prayer continues.

After calculation of Panchang, priests of Ukhimath’s Omkareshwar Temple decides the date on which temple gates must get open. Kedarnath temple opening date depend on the Akshaya Tritya day. Mostly the temple opens on the occasion of Akshaya Tritya. In Hindu religion Akshaya Tritya is considered very auspicious day which bring good luck. Akshaya Tritiya eve is going to take place on 3 May, 2022 this year. Opening date of Kedarnath Dham for 2022 will be declared on the eve of Maha Shiv Ratri.

Closing date for Kedarnath Dham is fixed. It closes on Bhai Dhooj after Diwali.
