Yamunotri temple is the adobe of Goddess Yamuna. It is the main attraction of Yamunotri. Thousand of devotees visit the temple every year to worship the black stone idol of Ganga Devi placed inside the temple. The mystical natural surrounding enclosing the temple makes it picturesque.
It is one of the important thermal springs that is settled in the vicinity of the temple. Pilgrims in large number come to visit this holy kund. Devotees prepare prasad in the hot spring of the kund. They tie potatoes and rice in a muslin cloth and boil them in the hot water of the kund. This prasad is then offered to the deity and is also taken back home.
Divya Shila is a rock pillar placed near the Surya Kund. It is believed that one needs to offer prayer here at Divya Shila before they enter Yamunotri.
It is located at the junction point of Hanuman Ganga and Yamnuna rivers. According to Hindu mythology, Hanuman Chatti is the place where Lord Hanuman met Bhima. The trek to Dodi Tal (3,307mt) starts from here.
Located amidst the oak and conifers trees, Kharsali is a scenic meadow. Tourists get lost in the unparallel beauty of this place. During winter season, Kharsali works as the winter abode of Goddess Yamuna.
Barkot is a small town located at the bank of River Yamuna. It is just 49 kilometers away from Yamunotri. One can enjoy nature walks and visit the ancient temple situated here.
Saptarishi kund is a beautiful dark blue lake that is located at a distance of 10 km from Yamunotri temple. It is fed by Champasar glacier and is regarded as the original source of Yamuna River. What makes this kund unique is the charming Brahm Kamal bloom found in the lake.
