Tapovan is a scenic meadow that is located at a height of 4460 meter above sea level.
Submerged shivling also known as the Jalmanga shivling remain immersed in the river water. It is only visible during winters when water level goes down. It is believed that Lord Shiva sat at this spot to hold River Ganga in his locks.
Situated on the bank of Bhagirathi, Kashi Vishwanath Temple is one the oldest sacred shrine in Uttarkashi. The temple houses 56cm tall Shivalingam which is tilted to the south.
It is situated 10 km from Gangotri at the junction of Jat Ganga and Bhagirathi River.
Gaumukh glacier is the second largest glacier of India. It is 30 kms in lenth and 4 kms in width. Gangotri acts as the base camp of the trek to Gaumukh Glacier.
